You may be asking yourself, is it even possible to have stress free family portraits?
I’m here to tell you yes! It’s possible and you can actually make fun memories while having your family photos taken.
Finding the right family photographer
The first step to having stress free family portraits is finding a photographer who you connect with. Take time to learn about different photographers and get to know their work. Scroll through their website and social media to get a good feel for their style. We highly recommend hiring a full service photographer. This is someone who can walk you through the process and take care of all the details so you don’t have to worry about anything.
Once you have found a photographer you feel would be a good fit, schedule a phone call with her. A phone consultation is a great way to ask questions and get a clear response. This eliminates going back and forth through emails and possibly misunderstanding key information. You can schedule a consult call with Forty Seven Moments Photography here.
Choosing outfits for family photos
Knowing what to wear for your family portraits can be one of the biggest challenges. The right photographer will be able to walk you through what to wear step by step. It is important to have a photographer who can guide you in this because she will know what colors best complement her editing style.
Our photography studio offers a client closet with plenty of dresses in various colors and styles to choose from. We help moms decide on her dress first, then we select clothing for each family member that coordinates perfectly. All clothing that is borrowed from our client closet is clean and freshly steamed before your session.
The day of your stress free family portrait session
If you hired a full service photographer, hair and makeup services will have been arranged in advance. You won’t have to scramble and stress about getting your makeup just right or running out of hairspray.
You and your photographer will have selected a location that fits your family’s needs. If you have young children, it’s necessary to give them ample time to warm up. Becoming familiar and comfortable with the location is important. For outdoor sessions, it’s ideal for your baby/toddler to become acquainted with sand and grass before your session. Both are very tactile and babies can often be unsure of them. We encourage running, tickling and playful games with one another. This creates candid moments that aren’t forced or overly posed. We will help you select your favorite images and create the best arrangement of framed photographs for your home. We also design heirloom albums which are the perfect keepsake for remembering your favorite moments from your family portrait session.
