When do I schedule my newborn session? What if baby comes early or late?
If you are hoping to have sleepy baby photos captured, we recommend scheduling your newborn portraits within 2 weeks of birth. If your baby arrives early or late, you can easily reach out to us, your trusted newborn portrait photographer, to let us know and we are happy to adjust the session date on our calendar to accommodate your needs.
What do I need to bring to my newborn portrait session?
Our Fairfield County, CT photography studio has everything needed for a newborn portrait session. You will only need to bring a diaper bag and yourselves. Once you arrive to our studio, you will find plenty of drinks and snacks, dresses for mom, shirts for dad and clothing for kids. We also have everything needed for your baby, including swaddles, hairbows, diapers, wipes, bottle warmer, pillow for nursing, burp cloths, blankets and much more. Our goal is to provide everything, so you don’t have to.
What if my baby cries during our newborn photoshoot?
Our newborn portrait sessions are baby led, so we are not in a rush and we don’t force any poses. If your baby needs to be changed, fed or rocked, we take the time to gently do that. We have photographed many babies over the years and have a system that helps them fall asleep. This includes a warm, cozy studio, sound machine, vibration pad and carefully wrapped swaddling to help baby feel secure and comforted.
Will other family members be able to be in the newborn portraits?
Yes! We love photographing all immediate family members and feel they should be included in the newborn portraits. Older siblings can play with toys, eat snacks or even help with the baby during newborn portraits. Dads are welcome to enjoy a cup of coffee, catch up on some emails or assist with baby during the session. Once moms have finished with hair and makeup from our professional hair and makeup artists, they can put on a dress previously selected from our client wardrobe and join in the newborn portraits.
Is there anything else I need to do to get ready for my newborn portraits photos?
We recommend taking some time to think about how you would like to enjoy your newborn portraits. If you are interested in framing your photographs for your home, then start to think about which walls you would like to use for artwork. If you want to have a baby book or album made, you can flip through sample albums while you are in our studio and get ideas from our website and Instagram profile.
