NYC In-Home Newborn Portraits

Photographing our client’s in their homes can be really special. It’s a great way to allow their style and personalities to shine through their images. We photographed in the apartment of this sweet family for their NYC, in-home newborn portraits.

We really don’t need a lot of space to make an in-home newborn portrait session beautiful. Our top requirements are plenty of natural light from windows, as well as neutral tones and back drops. We want your artwork to be free from distractions and clutter, so if we combine those two elements we know we can create amazing newborn portraits.

It was a pleasure capturing this new family’s adorable little girl. She was a complete sleepy baby dream with her dainty features and those big, sparkly blue eyes she got from her mama!

It’s an absolute must to photograph dads holding and admiring their new little one.

Babies aren’t always predictable, so we like to come prepared for whatever may occur during your newborn portrait session.

Another great reason to plan for an in-home newborn session is that it allows for your furry family members to join for a photograph or two. We love dogs and are always willing to incorporate them into you newborn or family portrait session.

They won’t let me swap them out or move them!

When we moved into our home over 10 years ago, I put framed images of each of our kids above our fireplace. I had the intention of moving them when I found a piece of artwork that worked with the space.

Time passed and I mentioned to my kids that I would be relocating their elementary portraits.

I was not expecting their response. All three of them objected to this idea.

In my mind, I was the one who really cared about our family portraits, especially the framed pictures on our walls.

It wasn’t until I suggested moving the pictures that I realized how important they were to each of my teenage kids!

To them, those pictures represented their childhood. Those memories were a part of their home, their upbringing and their security within it.

My eyes were opened to the value of a framed photographed that is prominently displayed in the home.

It’s not just about looking pretty. It represents emotional depth in a child’s life. Something deeper than we will ever know.

To all the parents reading this, you NEED framed photographs of your family in your home.

What would it take in order to make that happen?

Much love,
Rachel
