WHY NEWBORN PORTRAITS ARE IMPORTANT
my experience as a new mom
I had my first child 18 years ago and I will never forget all the emotions surrounding being a new mom. I knew I wanted to savor every moment I had with my new baby and never forget them.
As she grew, I couldn’t believe how quickly she changed from the flaky skin to the umbilical cord falling off. That is when I first realized how important it is to make time for having pictures of your baby taken. I made sure to capture them of her and knew I wanted to do the same for other new moms.
Having a newborn is life changing. It is important to schedule your newborn session prior to having your baby because you’ll be so busy enjoying time with your bundle of joy the time can easily slip by and you may miss it. You will be relieved that you made the decision in advance to capture your baby. Also, it is important for you to officially be in the photographs with your baby and never forget that special bond that you had together from the beginning.

We give light guidance and instruction during your session, so you don’t have to worry about how you’ll look or pose. We provide swaddles, blankets and hair bands that fit our natural style and are one less thing you have to think about bringing. They won’t let me swap them out or move them!
When we moved into our home over 10 years ago, I put framed images of each of our kids above our fireplace. I had the intention of moving them when I found a piece of artwork that worked with the space.
Time passed and I mentioned to my kids that I would be relocating their elementary portraits.
I was not expecting their response. All three of them objected to this idea.
In my mind, I was the one who really cared about our family portraits, especially the framed pictures on our walls.
It wasn’t until I suggested moving the pictures that I realized how important they were to each of my teenage kids!
To them, those pictures represented their childhood. Those memories were a part of their home, their upbringing and their security within it.
My eyes were opened to the value of a framed photographed that is prominently displayed in the home.
