When should I book my maternity portrait session?
You should book maternity portraits as soon as you find out you are pregnant. No really, you don’t want to miss out on having this very important time documented. Our calendar fills up quickly, especially during certain times of the year as seasons change in Connecticut. Notify us early so we can ensure we schedule a date for you. Maternity pictures are taken between 26 and 34 weeks of pregnancy, but this can vary from mom to mom. If this is your first pregnancy you may not start to show until later. Whereas subsequent pregnancies can start showing earlier. It’s our desire for the moms we photograph to feel comfortable and beautiful during their maternity portrait session, so we suggest erring on the earlier side.

What should I wear for my maternity photos?
Soft, neutral tones and colors are best that way the attention of the photographs is placed on genuine emotion rather than being distracted by busy, patterns or colors. Reducing the stress of preparing for your maternity photo shoot is important to us, so we have created a client wardrobe specifically for expecting moms. Where should I have my maternity portraits taken?
For intimate maternity pictures we photograph in our home studio in Fairfield County, CT, with soft delicate fabrics and natural light pouring in. This gives mom the chance to slow down and reflect on how special this time truly is. We also love photographing outside at a beautiful local beach in Westport or in a nearby field with tall grass and a variety of trees. Dad and siblings are welcome to join in the photographs as well.
Do I need hair and makeup for a maternity portrait session?
Yes! This is your time to shine, feel confident and look amazing. Having a professional take care of you ensures you look your best and your maternity photographs will be stunning. We work with talented hair and makeup artists who help bring out our client’s natural beauty. It’s our responsibility to schedule your hair and makeup for you that way it’s one less thing you have to take care of in preparation for your session.
Can I bundle a newborn and maternity photo session?
Most of our clients want to be sure the first year of their child’s life is documented and know booking in advance prevents them from missing a precious milestone. We offer a Baby Collective which includes 3-4 of our signature photo sessions that can include maternity, newborn, milestone and first year (cake smash photos) or their baby’s life.
What will I do with maternity pictures?
This is a great question! It’s one we take much pride in because we love helping our clients in the portrait making process from start to finish. We offer custom framing for your images to hang beautifully in your home. Not every photograph will make it to your walls which is why we offer luxurious, heirloom albums to display your images. Your children will treasure holding this beautiful keepsake in their hands for years to come.
